Default New with a 782

Hello, I'm from eastern North Carolina, and I enjoy all things IH, especially culti-vision tractors. I am a member of Eastern NC Chapter 37 of the IH Collectors Club. My wife and I have just built a home and I wanted a classic Cub Cadet to mow with, and it had to be red--I am not a big fan of yellow/white. I went with a friend to PA yesterday and picked up this nice CCC-built 782. It has a 44" deck. My plan is to mow with it for the rest of the summer, assess its problems, and hopefully get it into tip-top shape over the winter. I think I eventually want to put a 50" deck on it, but we'll see.

thanks,
Al

Welcome to OCC. Nice 782, you have there. Where are you located? I'm near the Fayetteville area.

Welcome aboard. Very nice 782 you've got there. Doesn't look like she needs too much work. Nice find!

OT: Looks like someone's been squealing some rubber. Wasn't the 782 was it? LOL......

Welcome to OCC. 782 looks like it was taken care of. I'm kind of partial to the red ones also. Ha

I'm near Jacksonville.

I ran it for the first time yesterday afternoon, ran good for about 30 minutes and then started losing power/missing until it died. Started and ran fine after it cooled off, so I am thinking it's time for a coil.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
