McMasters shipping is very fair. Don't worry.

Of coarse, I'm only 4 hrs from them so I get it next day.....

I had just ordered some of the brake material. Was $9 in shipping on $15 worth of material.
McMaster has distribution centers on the east coast as well as the mid west. I usually see things in a day or two in Vermont.

Like J-Mech stated, McMaster has very fair shipping cost. But the one thing that irks me is the shipping cost will be added to the invoice. I either E-Mail/call them for the estimated shipping cost when doing an estimate for a customer. If I order before 3pm, my parts will arrive the next day.

Another thumbs up here for McMaster Carr. Easy to deal with, quick shipping, and an actual person will answer the phone if you call in.

Agree with the others, for most things, shipping is $7 or less. I feel bad for you guys though, if I order by 10:30am I have it the same day.

Granted, it's a little odd when a guy in a 90's Chevy astro conversion van pulls up to your house instead of a brown truck....but parts are parts.

That's cool!!

As long as I order before UPS's pickup time I get next day. I've sent in an order via internet at as late as 5 or 6 o'clock before and still got next day. That's really pretty impressive considering the warehouse I get from is 4 hrs (give or take) away!

Maybe the Buster Brown truck was broke that day and they had to use the Astro.

Haha. It's been my experience that whenever something is shipped same day, it's never on a brown truck. Normally it's a regular, usually plain white cargo van; the conversion van last time was a first for me. I think they hire out to local drivers for deliveries in a certain radius and skip buster b. I'm about an hr and a half away from the nj location, I assume these guys pick up from the warehouse directly. I guess if you have any type of van you can get hired to make McMaster deliveries!

Just an update on the 1806 disc brake repair: I should have measured first, the old pads were still 3/16" thick when worn down to the rivets so the replacement material I ordered at 3/16" really did nothing. I reordered the 4" by 1/4" and glued them in place last night. Not a whole lot of room for adjustment here, the 1/4" needs to be adjusted out a wee bit, the measurements show a 5/16" pad would lock up the disc immediately upon bolting in place. I used Loctite 2 part epoxy and clamped in a vise overnight. Seems to be affixed solidly.
Will bolt them back on later today and let you know how they adjust out.
Thanks all for the input !
Steve

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
