When I replaced the filter on my 147 it wouldn't move right away...I had to let the engine run about 30 seconds, work the lever back and forth about twice and then she took off. Ran it a while, shut it off, then topped of the fluid in the rear.

Welp, that didn't work. I took the tractor out back and ran it around. It seems forward works great, but, reverse barely works. I put it in reverse and pushed it a good 3 feet and still nothing. I'm at a lose.

Sounds like a bad hydro release valve to me. I'd swap them and see what happens.

Did this thing work before? I have a really hard time thinking a relief valve just suddenly failed like that. Plugged is a possibility, but not likely since they are after the filter. Does it have manual or automatic valves? If manual is the button popped up on the top?
Aree you sure the linkage is working/intact/adjusted...... |

It has the automatic valves. I'll double check the linkage, but it seems to be working properly and all intact.

Bad valve it was. Reversed the valves and now reverse works like a champ and forward sucks!!!! Options? Obviously I need to replace them. Whose that one guy that everyone raves about?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
