Craftsman to CC
Brother-in-law gave me a "looks new" Craftsman plow and hitch. But my tractor isn't Craftsman. Humm ...? Well, I sold my welders. So, it's time to make do with what I do have. So, some cutting, drilling and bolting was in order. (Only drilled two 3/8" holes in the frame and one 5/8" in drawbar.)
First the main mounting plate needed some help. Then drill and bolt in place. Then mount the plow. Yes, this mess actually works. I have the Coulter also, but in the garden with lots of debris, it just clogged everything up. No picture of actually plowing yet. May be add one later. Note: Yep, need wheel weight, and hyrostat, is not the best solution, in my opinion.

I like it. Can't beat it for FREE. Plus, that is just a brinly plow with craftsman stickers on it.

Mine also has the very small sticker, that says made by Brinly.
I want to eventually get the correct lift for the 149. It has the hydraulic lift cylinder. I plowed e few furrows along one side of the garden. But have to wait, for the last of the tomatoes and potatoes to be gathered in, before doing the whole thing.

The coulter if set up properly should help by cutting the trash and keep it from hanging up on the front of the moldboard and the standard. The coulter should only run a couple of inches deep. It is not intended for it to be buried to the bearing.

barkerwc4362, I agree in theory. It would have been fine, if I had not put about 6 inches of (one year old) shredded tree bark, from the saw mill on the garden, back in the Spring. That has settled, and now some Bermuda grass has taken root, and spreading. That stuff just rolls up like a carpet. And no, the Coulter won't cut it. The ground is so soft, that there is nothing "cut against".
Couple more weeks and I'll rip it all up, plow it and re-cover the garden with more of the bark mulch. It's now well over a year old, out in the weather. It is beginning to break down, into really good stuff. The garden really loves that stuff.
