Well, after "upgrading" to some newer machines (1864 & 2284), I decided I missed one of ol' machines from my past. It came to my option to buy by accident, but when I saw the deal, I couldn't resist. I mean, could you resist a running 129 for $140?!
So, tomorrow morning, a 129 will be joining my fleet, bringing the grand total to (a meagar) 4. This machine will be be for misc tasks such as hauling a cart, aerating, de-thatching, etc. I will be sure to post pics when I get this ol' girl on my land

Well, here it is. She smokes a bit on startup but once warmed up, runs good and strong. Now we've got to get rid of this darn rain and wintry mix so I can go play with it!!
![]() PS. Ignore the mess in the shop, it's always a work in progress ![]() ![]()

Ryan,
Nice find on the 129. Sure can't beat a runner for what you snagged her for. Congrats! Not a big fan of upright exhausts on cubs, but that setup is kinda growing on me. Makes her look like a "big" tractor. Once again, congrats!

Thanks guys!
![]() Got some time to take a good look at it tonight. The oil very much needs changed, it's about as black as tar. I tightened the hydro control lever friction point and now the autonomous acceleration issue it had is gone. I also checked the rear, it was almost (and I kid you not) a gallon low on fluid!! I topped it off with fresh hytran until I can get the time/parts to do a full fluid/filter change and clean-out, so it'll have to do for now. Other than that, aside from being a bit rough around the edges, looks wise, I think she's a keeper. Now, I just have to find a way to tell the ol' lady about it, she doesn't know I have it yet

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
