Default Dual wheels

Question for ACecil and others that have dual wheels on their cadets,... do your dual wheels interfere with the small wheels on your mower deck????

I'd like to put dual wheels on my CC100, for more stability on sidehills when mowing.

Thanks,
RoninKS

Ron,

I have no idea, about the duals interfering with the mowing deck's wheels. I don't have a deck for my 100. The duals will definitely give you more stability on the hills.

I am willing to bet that the duals would interfere with the gauge wheels on the deck.

Depending on the deck that you have, I'm thinking that the gauge wheel will fit right in between the duels. The duels will mash the grass down before it gets cut and you may end up with a not so neat looking lawn.

I mow about 400 yards of highway ditches here and some of it is pretty steep. I pull a 60" drag behind mower with my 109 making my cutting swath nearly nine feet, so I weighted 1 rear wheel for extra traction on the up-hill side, otherwise there are places where I would just sit and spin.

Yeah,... I'm thinking the same thing, UNLESS someone has had a different experience.

Yeah, that might work until you bump something with the deck and the gauge wheel digs into one of the tires. Besides, with most dual wheel adapters, the wheels are less than an inch apart.

Thanks,... I was wondering about the spacing between the duals and if there was actually enough room for the deck's gauge wheels to clear the outside tires.

Here is a picture of my 128 with Craftsman wheel weights. Because they stick out a couple of inches, I could not use these weights on the 1650 because they would hit the mower decks wheel brackets. Although they will work fine on the 128, there was no way that I could have run dual wheels on the 1650 !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
