NF windbreaker
I had it on my 582 special but I'd like to put it on either my 70 or 102. My 582 special is in great shape for being 30 years old and I can't bring myself to drill holes in the fenders.

How can you tell the difference between a WF and NF windbreaker?

NF windbreaker
The basic difference is the mounts. The dash hoop mounts to the lower mount for the dash on the NF and the hoop for the WF/QL mounts to the front of the dash under the hood.
I've seen several different ways to mount the WF top leg/door catches. Some are short and you have to drill a hole thru the fender pan. The ones I use bolt throuch the hole in the top of the frame on either side of the battery. I haven't found a "factory" mount for the narrow frames yet (in a dealership). As far as the foot rests, the innermost back bolts and the outermost front bolts are used to mount the longmount and the front also serves as the lower pivot point for the doors. I just pulled out my snow thrower and my windbreaker and will be mounting them up on my 1650 for the 'snow season.' If requested, I'll take pics to help explain the process. Happy cubbing!! FFGino. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
