Paint stripper works best on sheet metal. Sandblasting can warp sheet metal. When I repainted my 129, I used stripper on the sheet metal followed by a ScotchBrite disc in a die grinder to remove the surface rust. I sandblasted all of the pieces small enough to fit in my blast cabinet.

I use a orbital sander and get good results.

If the paint sticks well I hate to remove it, just blend the edges and paint,,, IMHO.

I'd sandblast it, warping the sheet metal isn't a concern unless the person running the blaster is a complete idiot.

Aircraft stripper works good too. Spray it on let it dissolve the paint then powerwash it off. But be sure to dry it good and get some primer on or it will rust up fast.

I have to tell you that I have been doing the electrolysis process to get rid of rust and boy does it ever do a number on paint! One part of my sub frame for the snow blade was rusted up pretty good and when I removed it from the tank I used a small putty knife and the paint came right off...of course you will have some spots that are stubborn, but for the most part it works good...and it will not hurt sheet metal.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
