I've had great luck with these:

Heavy plain good quality leather belt. Says it's Amish made; no idea if it's true but it's good quality at a big box store price.

Wow, this thread really strikes a note with me...

I get so POed about trying to find a GOOD leather belt.

I just got one earlier this year at the local farm store, simply because I was there and my pants were always falling down. I think it was about $30.00 and I can see that I'm soon gonna need a new one.

I have literally been looking for a good leather belt for more than 10 years... I may try the guy in Gatlinburg.

I'm just glad to know that there are others out there who have the same issues, and that I not the crazy one.

I get my belts (all 3 of them) from fairs and ag shows. I've gotten 2 belts from a guy at the PA Farmshow (jan 10-17, largest indoor ag event in the country) who makes belts and wallets etc. He has a display of different patterns, even IH. You pick one out, tell him your waist size, he cuts it and punches the holes right then. The first one I got from him I wore daily for 16 years before I retired it. It still works, but the holes are stretched out a bit. I got an all black one for "nice" occasions from him too. My new daily belt I picked up at bike week, same thing though, the guy cut and punched it when I bought it. These belts take a little break in, but they last.

Last belt I bought was at TSC and it was made by Carhartt. Very good quality and am still using it at work to hold up my britches up. I've had it about 10+ yrs now.

I do the same as berwill, I go to the local flea market to get a belt, same person has made them and they last about ten years, ten hard years at that. Carhartt always good though too

Not cheap but neither is buying department store belts once or twice per year. Gives added incentive to keep your waiste a consistant size as well:

http://thebeltman.net/

I have 2 belts from here, a brown and a black. The brown is almost 10 years old now and like I said, if my waiste doesn't grow I fully expect it to last the rest of my life and I am only the ripe old age of 38. The black is only a couple years old and I don't wear it frequently.

And they work really good if you are apt to carry something heavy on your belt...

I've used a Docker I purchased from JC Penney some years ago. I don't need to pull my pants up on a continual basis, at least not because they slip down. It's more of a dress belt since I wear office attire most of the time. I do have one that's a little wider for my jeans that has worked well too. $25 if I recall. I'm sure it will be more the next time since it's been a few years.
Good luck.
ps..my dad would use twine when his belts would give out

I've had two what I would consider "real" belts since I've been out of high school. One I got at JC Penney or Bergners (I can never remember) and I believe it is a Fossil. That belt is in perfect shape after about 10 years except where an ex roomates dog chewed on it. I could have killed that dog when I found he did that to my good belt I also just recently bought another seemingly good belt from Old Navy. It was on sale so I figured what the heck, I'd give it a try. Break in was a bit noisy but now it is proving to be a good belt but we'll see how it will hold up to the test of time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
