Default Picture of the Week: January 10, 2015

This weeks submission is sent to us by local member Keyton Strutzenberg aka kstrutz50 from Iowa. Keyton comments "My all original Cub Cadet 100 was bought new in 1964 by my great grandpa and he used it to mow the yard on the farm, then when he moved to town he bought a blade and plowed snow with it. It then ended up back on the farm when he died back in the 80's and my dad then used it to mow the yard at the farm. My dad used it for a few years then retired it, and it sat in the back corner of the shed for 20 years. I drug it out in the fall of 2013 and got it running with minimal work. I now use it to plow snow and plan to put the deck mower on and mow with it also." Thanks for the submission Keyton!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
