Smile Best SGT

I have a question, what is the heaviest duty Cub Cadet, and is it an SGT? Also, do any SGt's have a cast iron rear end, and do all SGT's have a fine spline rear axle?
Thanks
Kyle

I can see this one going bad but I'll take the bait.

1st: 982's below serial number 719999 had a cast iron rear.
2nd: Pretty sure the SGT's with the aluminum rears have the fine splines
3rd: As far as heavy duty goes biggest difference between a GT and a SGT is frame length, front axle and larger tires.

Sam
Its hard to name the "best" SGT , yeah, the early 982 have a cast rear, and are over all tough as nails, but... they don't have power steering or fine spline axles and have an Onan in them. The later supers are great with power steering ,fine spline axles, and could had with a diesel. That said I wouldent ruel out one with the aluminum rear, I've run mine hard even without the Xtream braces, but with them I'm sure you wouldent ever have an issue.

Mitsubishi and yanmar only made the CuT's and ScUT's, correct? I am talking about super garden tractors only so if they made super garden tractors then I would include them but if they didn't then I wouldnt.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
