Default Condensation in oil filler tube

I have been using my GTX-1054 this winter to haul firewood to the house in a trailer. yesterday I checked the oil and found moisture in the form of white goo on the upper portion on the dipstick. The oil is not cloudy so I feel confident the oil is ok, so is this normal when operating an air cooled engine in cold weather?

Time for an oil and filter change. My guess is that it has been sitting for a while and you have some condensation in the oil.

It's not uncommon for you to get condensation in the filler tub on an air cooled aluminum engine. No way for air to move the condensation out of the filler. It's the highest point. All mine do this during winter. If the crankcase vent is working, it will boil the water out. If the oil isn't milky, I wouldn't worry about it.

if your just running it in short times it don't get hot enough to help dry up the moisture, cars do the same thing, run it longer it should help. when you change oil dump a little diesel fuel or gas down the dipstick tube to wash the moisture out....and as sam said oil is for lubricating water is for cooling [they don't mix]

My 1650 does this too. Its the moisture in the air with the cold engine and warm air around it or just the opposite. Every time I use it when its cold outside and park it in the garage the oil tube gets the build up of white gunk. So far it has not affected the oil. I change the oil every spring and fall whether its used or not. And since it sits in a garage that doesn't get below 40 deg. I use 30 weight oil year round.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
