No Haban for an 1863.

The deck on this looked like your older haban without the folding wheels.

If it has a Haban, then it is not a 1863. It may have the wrong side panels. It most likely is a super. It would be good to have some pictures and we could tell you for sure.

I talked to the dealer who has it on his lot and the serial number comes up 1863. I knew it was a 186- because it looks just like my 1862 but it doesn't have power steering and its an 18hp command motor. It currently doesn't have side panels but he is getting them. The dealer is asking 700 for it. I don't have pictures but trust me it is a 1863 and has an older Haban looking deck before the pivoting wheels.

Get a pic. Haban deck is to big to fit under a GT.

I trust you. Both the 48" and 54" Cub Cadet decks sorta resemble a Haban deck.

The 48"/54" Cub Cadet decks look like this one that is mounted on a 1863.

To answer the question as to value, that depends.......................

I bought an 1863 last summer for $250 or $300. Some plastic damage (fixable), badly blown head gasket, mower blades worn out. Seat was not the greatest but it's very usable. I use it quite often for general purpose but when mowing, I use one of my 1862/1864's because of the power steering.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to pick up an 1864 tomorrow for $150 that is minus an engine. All I want is the PS and the new mower deck blades on it for my 1863.

I mention these prices for reference only. As you can see, the owner in the C'sL ad I posted thinks highly of his 1863. On the other hand, it's looks like it's in pretty decent condition compared to a lot of them you will find.

If you're in a hurry and need a tractor, buy the tractor you're looking at assuming it's in decent condition and not worn out. Most of the ones I come across have 650-800 hours on them (if the hour meter is still working) and the tractors are still okay at that stage.

Thanks Mike for that info on the deck. It's my mistake that is what it looks like. This tractor is in decent shape.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
