Rhode Island
Though I've been on the Forum awhile.... I'm a Rhode Island native married to an US Marine Corps Artillery officer brat from Ohio. Long story on how we met. I've got five Cub Cadets and four are pictured here. Left to right: a 682 with a Series I engine made in Fall 1981, a 149 made in Sept 1971 with the optional larger/quieter muffler which I use to haul firewood from my woodlot and my first Cub bought in 1997. A 782 made in Oct 1979 with the Series II engine (my wife's favorite), and a 1450 from Sept 1977. The fifth is another 149 (Dec 1972 vintage) under the pine tree and brown tarp in the background which I bought to use with a backhoe and bucket.
Hopefully coming this summer is a 169 my neighbor may sell me for $600 which seems to be a reasonable price for southern New England. It runs, solid deck, good tires, just needs a new seat. I have no need for it, but I've heard they are somewhat rare, so why not get it. The last of the snow melted today, so I got the Cubs out and lined up for the photo op. Roy Najecki Chepachet RI |

Hey Roy, Welcome to OCC! You got a nice collection of tractors there. I really like it over there in western Rhode Island, to me it’s kinda stepping back into the past a bit. Lots of cool stuff over there too, trucks, tractors, etc… Keep havin’ fun!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
