That is for the chute control for the snow blower. Click on this link and you'll see a pic of it.

That safety switch bypass is an accident waiting to happen with your driveshaft!! If that was my tractor, I would either fix the safety switch properly or secure that bypass more than tightly fitting it in a jam like that and without a driveshaft (clutch) cover.

Thanks, I was wondering what that wiring was for. Looks like McGiver was working on it... Is that wired to the clutch pedal switch?
I saw one of those guards on ebay this morning. I'll go back and give it a look.

See if the old switch is still there and if it will work (probably won't). If not a new one is 40 bucks well spent. I don't like all the other safety switches the later ones have, but I always replace the neutral safety in case a kid happens to wander into the yard and mess with it while I'm not around. I also take the key when I shut anything off unless I'm right there working on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
