Default New Cub owner from Eastern Shore, MD

Hey everyone. I've recently been given a Cub Cadet to try out. If I like it, I owe the guy $350. From everything I've seen I'm thinking this is a good deal. It starts right up and seems to run great. He got a super-sweet deal on a zero turn and didn't need this one, while at the same time he knew I needed a mower so he wanted to help me out. We've been friends for a while now so I really don't think he's out to get one over on me.

Anyway, I'm trying to find as much info on it as I can. I'm trying to post pics but for some reason can't. Guess I need to read the newbie rules to see what you guys have going on here... Here's the S/N anyway: 2050584u709678; Model #: 142682399

Is there anything in particular I should watch out for? Thanks for the group -- it seems that if you're willing to search a little you really can find anything on here!

Thanks!

I cut my front lawn with it this afternoon -- I know it's not the biggest or fastest, but man it was a dream! I'm used to a 30" push mower, so cutting with this is awesome! Super smooth engine and deck -- if I hold the hood to keep it from vibrating, it's the quietest mower I've ever seen!

I've seen these in two color combinations. Which one is correct? Red (mostly) or yellow & white?

The yellow and white ones are cub cadet corporation (CCC) MTD tractors, the red is IH. Still red for a little bit after the transition but didn't have IH tags. Congrats on your 682, 82 series are my favorite Cubs. Also hello to a fellow Marylander, I head out to eastern shore for sea duck hunts every year.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
