Super wheel center
After getting my 1782 home I discovered that the PO had replaced one of the rear rims with a std garden tractor rim. I knew it looked strange from behind! The backspacing is quite a bit different.. I decided I didn't have much to lose so I drilled 4 holes in each of the spot welds and then gouged them a little with a die grinder and carbide cutter.. A couple of smacks with a hammer and chisel and the center came right out.. I'm gonna move it over the same as the other correct rim and re weld it.. If this goes well and I can save up a few dollars I may build a set of 10.5 inch wheels and order some Firestone Ags... I got a good tip from another member about truing the center up with a dial indicator before welding, so that is what im going to try... I'll add some more pics when done.

Made a little time today finish the wheel project.. made an arbor to chuck the center in my old South Bend lathe.. that made the truing of the wheel and welding very easy... The whole project turned out better and easier than expected.. thanks to all the members who helped with suggestions and tips!

Looks good. Great idea on the lathe. I never thought of that and we do have a good sized lathe at work.
I knew once you got going on it you would realize it's not really a big deal to cut and reweld the center.

Thanks for the help sbauerz28! I had a Jeep axle laying around that was the correct lug pattern, but 1/2 inch studs...cub cadets are 7/16...
So I just knocked out the bigger studs and made some 7/16 studs to fit the jeep axle... then chucked the axle and bolted the cub wheel center right up.. I could have used the tractor like you did but it was at home and my welder and lathe were at work..
