Time to pay attention to my 127
I picked up a well-used 127 about 10 years ago, and use it primarily for pulling a cart around our hilly yard. It came with a mower deck, but I haven't looked into whether it's complete; some day I'd like to commission the mower.
It's been trouble free, apart from oil changes and a new battery now and then, it's been a real trooper. It's time to put a little more into this machine, and I plan to start with a new seat and a wiring harness. Both are original, and about in the shape you'd expect -- crumbling. I'm looking forward to learning from all of the experienced folks on this site. Tom |

Tom.
The 127 is a great tractor and as you probably already know is about 44 years old and still in service. The IH cub cadets were well built and over-engineered, somewhat of a lost art in this day and age. As you begin looking into it, you will find that you can use your 127 year round for lots of yard/garden/property chores. My personal favorite is snow removal with my cubs! You can download useful manuals and look up the year and month that your 127 was assembled off of the line in the Technical section of the forum to get started. If you have any questions about your 127, then feel free to post a thread in the IH tractors section of the forum and you will receive a wealth of information/useful advice. Great to have you as a member. We are looking forward to seeing some pictures of your tractor. Cub Cadet 123

Welcome Tom! Hang around here too long and you'll be itching to get that deck fixed up sooner than later....or you'll end up with another cub! The fever runs wild on this site. I'm sure someone can recommend a good replacement seat. Member mlamar makes and sells wiring harnesses for cub cadets. He has many satisfied customers. You can find the info in the resources section, here is a link to his ad.

Thanks Guys! I've already emailed Mike about a harness. More likely interested in a plow than mowing (our lawn is fairly steep and worth it to me to pay someone else to do... A good part of the lawn is steep enough that I can't drive uphill if he grass is the slightest bit wet (even a bit of dew) without spinning, even without the trailer).
It might be nice to have an alternative/backup to my snowblower, but I have the same steepness problem with the driveway, so that may be a no-go, too. I've moved many yards of mulch, topsoil, rocks, etc., with the trailer -- if it keeps doing that, I'll be more than happy. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
