1015 Upgrade
First off, I want to say thank you for all the info you guys have put up here I have been an avid reader for a few months now and cannot express enough gratitude for all I have learned from the members on this site!!!
I hope this is an appropriate place to post this, as it WILL be a mod...I hope. I have a Cub Cadet 1015 with a 10HP B&S engine. A friend is giving me a 25 HP B&S Intek V Twin and I would like to upgrade to it. I will get more info about numbers and models soon, but I am looking for generalities to see if it will work at all? I Would like some more power to push through taller grass and push snow in the winter. I remember when those things were new--they were basically a beefed up Murray. That was the smallest tractor style mower the dealer dad worked for carried--probably was the smallest Cadet made. I think it came in gear and hydro drive (actually different model numbers if you want to get technical).Kind of surprised you are running short on HP with only a 2 blade deck. I'm afraid if you put that much HP under the hood you're going to demolish something, especially if you try to push snow with it. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted on how it goes!

i think your going to wasting your time and money doing this. you wont know if it will physically fit until the old engine is removed. if it does fit then you will probably have to drill new mounting holes. then there is the pulley on the crank that drives the deck and tractor,the cranks may be different diameters. you have a lt which is a lawn tractor and is not meant for serious work. the stamped steel frame could buckle or crack under heavy loads from pushing snow. unless you have the mechanical ability and tools which includes a welder,i would pass on the 25 intek. perhaps your original engine is tired??? find another flathead briggs in a larger displacement instead.
