Default Hy Tran fluid change - frequency?

The operators manual says to change the transmission filter every 100 hours. But how often should the HyTran fluid be changed? Every 500 hours, 1000 hours, 5 years, 10 years ...?

It all depends on the type of use, if it sits outside, and how dirty it gets on a frequent basis. Some tractors go 30+ years without a change and they are still running strong. If you have never opened up the rear end, its a good thing to do to clean out any sludge or gunk. For me it is a peace of mind thing knowing that it is nice and clean in there.
I just finished replacing some gaskets and axle seals in the rear end, so I had to drain it anyway. The fluid was at least 15 years old, but only had a hundred hours on it. It was the first time that rear end cover had ever been off and there was about a half inch of sludge and gunk in there. After I was done, it operates much better and smoother.

I would say that every 5 to 7 years or so would be fine with normal use. More if you have it sitting outside and is in a dirty environment, or is used heavily. My opinion is that it costs around 50 bucks to replace the filter, oil and rear end gasket. Pretty cheap insurance....but that just one guy's opinion.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
