Lucus is good stuff, like STP it can help when things are a little too loose, a little worn and you want to keep using it until.... 'fixit time'??....
I had a '36 Ford one time, above 60 it would start to knock a little, one rod was loose. I added two cans of STP and drove it for two more years, then did overhaul the motor. I use it in most small engines, a little at least, these air cooled mills run pretty hot, just a dab of water on the head after a good run will tell you quickly, instant STEAM. I've been asked if it can be used in the Hydrostat ... I'd say if it works now, just use the Hi-Tran and forget about it, really not needed. Warren |

John ... Sure, Lucas is good stuff, STP works well also and there are some others that are very good. When a motor is well worn it might be a good idea to use this additive, it can prolong things and prevent a rod through the block or worse. I used STP in my Cub for a few years until I overhauled it last winter, everything was smooth on the inside when it came apart, made things a lot easier for me.

I mowed the lawn for the last time today, noticed that those hood latch hooks on my 149 seem to fall into an awkward position when unlocked, I plan to weld small pieces of steel as a stop, prevent them from falling down any farther than they have to to unlock clear, this will make locking the hood down a lot easier each time. I also made a very nice thing to hold the hood in a proper position when opened, not to far but far enough to prevent wind from blowing it over... shut. A picture might be in order... we'll see.
