Picture of the Week: October 18, 2015
This weeks submission is sent to us by local member Brian Kattner from Spring Grove, IL. Brian comments "Ryan I thought I'd send a few pics of my machines for POTW. The pics were taken with my phone so I'm not sure how big or clear they are.
1st is my red IH 782, 1980, got it about 2 years ago w/ rough deck, put together a 50c for it out of 2 bad decks. Nightow1 sent me a carb bowl, brinly adapter from ACecil, and the rear lift from DX3. Lots of advice from other members here too. Took the pics yesterday 10/10 while I mowed the ditches in front of my family farm. Been in the family for near 100 years. Has a series 2 engine. Runs a QA 42a in the winter. 2nd is my yellow & white CCC 782. Had to make a ten hour round trip for this one. Owner said low hr, great runner, 9/10. More like a 4-5/10 at the time. Its a 1982, has low serial number with IH hourmeter & rear diff. Series 1 engine. Has front hydraulics for power angle plow. I've repainted the hood & side panels & found some chrome hubcaps for it. Its going to be my snowplow tractor. Lastly is a couple of my 86. Found it at a small engine shop in town, had a busted rod. Rebuilt the engine with a lot of advice from J-Mech. Came with a 38" deck but I've since installed a 44a. Its kind of a backup now but was my plow tractor last winter. I'd like to repaint this one sometime. Currently looking for my next project....either a 582, or retrofit a CCC 54" deck under one of the 782s. Cubs have been a fun hobby for me and I enjoy seeing other Cubs on the board. Hope everyone enjoys some pics of my machines." Thanks for the submission Brian!!! Note: Picture is scaled down to fit here, for full resolution image simply click on the picture below

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
