Default Lurker/first post..169?

I would first like to say thank you to everyone for the great information and amazing ideas that iv learned here on occ. Its helped me tremendously with my 108. I have property that i plant food plots on for hunting whitetails and the 108 does it all.. I love it! looking to make the jump up. My question is about a 169 that i found that i dont think really is one. The owner swears it is and sent me pics of it and it does have the 169 decal but no hydro lift. I thought they came standard with it but just wanted some clarification on this please and thnx!

First, welcome!

Not all 169 came with hydraulic lift, from what I have heard quite a few were shipped with manual lift and had the hydraulic added at the dealer. My 169 has the hydraulic lift, but none of the parts are painted, it was installed after the tractor was painted.

The only way to be sure it is a 169 is by the serial number. It should be 0048 ahead of the U in the sequence.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Ditto what Mike said.
I think a lot of the early ones had manual lift.

Yes, there was a shortage of Hyd lift parts at the time they were built.. A lot of them were shipped to the dealers with manual lifts.. I think IH would pay to have it added as the parts came available.. Im sure a lot of them never got converted..

I have a 169 with hydro lift and one with manual lift. So they are out there. Good luck getting it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
