Control valve leak
Hello. I have a cub cadet 1711 that I just recently purchased and the control valve is leaking at the top of the spool. I am assuming it is leaking by an o-ring. Is the repairable? If so, any advice on how to repair? What size o-ring do I need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Earl

Don't know if your control valve is like mine, but on my 782 single spool, it was an easy fix and the 2 "O" rings I got for less than a dollar @ my Ace hwd.
Do use lube when sliding the spool back into the valve body . Can't remember which end I put in first but thinking I had to put one ring on and push the spool in and out the other end a bit and put that ring on and push it back in. I couldn't put them both on and slide it in with out damaging the "O" rings ( typical). |

Earl, I wanna say they are #110 but I can't find my notes and some of the valves are different. Here is a pic of an early built 1811 spool that I rebuilt.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
