Default Rainy day photos of my grass cutter

I've had my super now for a while as some know. its been a great tractor and has turned into my favorite. but the one thing i absolutely hated was the cut on the haban deck. I'm not one to mow my lawn every weekend...i frankly don't have time. maybe once every 2-4 weeks so it gets pretty tall. on short stuff it worked very very well but anything taller than 5" was too much for it. maybe i didn't have it set up correctly? either way. was a pain to use, weighed as much as a dead horse and made the tractor really wide and too wide to fit into the places i needed it to go. so, a few months ago i was surfing craigslist and come across this mower for $150...so i called. guy said someone is already on their way and would call me if they didn't show. so, figured it was already gone. low and behold, the guy called me and said the first guy never showed so if i wanted it, come get it. i raced out there. biggest thing i was concerned about was the PTO speed. on the sticker on the front of the mower, it says "for 2000RPM use only". soon as i read that i handed him the cash, loaded it and on my way i went.

it needed work. the gearbox, PTO shaft and every shield were off of it in a box with a coffee can full of hardware. i swung by the local John Deere dealer and picked up the proper belt for it, and two new universals for the PTO shaft. got it all put back together and hooked it up to the super, fired it up and took off across my 6+" tall grass and to my surprise, it made a finish cut a zero turn would have a tough time duplicating. im super impressed with this mower. no more cub decks for me so long as i have this. i know its not a Cub or cub related, but, its being powered by a cub so...that counts right? this winter I'm going to give it to my dads friend who buys and sells JD mowers so he can go through it and make sure everything is up to snuff. new bearings and seals and what not as its a little louder than i think it should be. but, it works AWESOME.

anyway, here are some rainy day pics i shot of the unit. i know everyone goes nuts over Cat 0 implements on this site, so a Cat 0 2000RPM powered implement not many people know about should stir things up. lol

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
