Default Salvage yard

My son took me to a neat tractor salvage yard. Actually the had about everything. We got 3 hydraulic cylinders from a JD grain head that we intend to use on a Haban blade for the angle part. Then we picked up a 2x8 hydraulic cylinder that I would like to use for a dump wagon. Got all 4 cylinders for $50 which I thought was a pretty good deal. Later in the day, he showed me a #1 cart he is going to try to buy. The guy with the cart has all kinds of stuff around his place so hopefully he will sell it. Anyhow, I had a good time with my son lookin and doin tractor stuff. Oh yeah, almost forgot, they had an old 4 row IH planter there that was in unbelievable good condition. I remember my dad having a planter like that 40 years ago!

I hate going to salvage, junk, or scrapyards---I always want to bring something home! One thing I have found about old corn planters, they are pretty much worthless. Unless it is a Deere there aren't many parts available for them I just bought a wore out IH 800 this spring and spent as much in parts as I did for the machine. Its in great shape now. I looked into some older IH planters but with discs costing $90 each and there being 16 of them on a machine, well you get the idea.

Nice! Looks like we're not too far apart.... Mind sharing where this was located? Promise I won't pick all the good stuff.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
