Default 1541 slow reverse speed

The reverse speed seems rather slow and is going to be a problem while snow plowing. I have tried adjusting the shift linkage to increase the speed but it offsets the neutral position. Has anyone found a resolution to this?

I believe CC released a service bulletin on that about 1990. I don't have it handy. If you can't fix it, let me know and I'll dig it out.

Default 1541 parts manual

Does anyone have the parts manual for the 1541..The serial number is 815597. I can find only later serial number parts manuals. Am looking for transmission controls but the later serial numbers have different controls. Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
