Unhappy Multi Meters for Dummies

Looking for some assistance from you "smart" people!
Its great to have the tools, but if ya don't know how to use them, they aren't much good.
I bought this multi meter yesterday and need some help on using it since the instructions that come with it are useless and tell you nothing.

I am wanting to know what to set the dial to in order to test the following:
1. If my key, pto, or light switch works or not and needing to be replaced?
2. If I have power at a certain point in a wiring harness, say the end of the wire at the pto clutch at the front of the tractor?
3. Is my battery any good?
These are the only two things I can think of that it would be used for mostly when I am working on Cubs.

A little help for the dummy who grew up under a rock.

3 clicks to counterclockwise. DC 0-20scale, which 12-14 Volts from a battery is "within range"

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
