Default Opening for an Office with the Government

Once a king and his court were headed down a winding road, when he came upon a peasant farmer. After an exchange of mutual greetings, the farmer inquired to the king where he was heading to in these parts. The king replied, "I am on my way to go fishing with my court in tow." Upon hearing this, the farmer removed his hat and scratched his head, then proceeded to ask the king, "Why are you going to do that when it is going to rain? You won't catch anything in the rain." The King said, "My court astronomer has assured me that it will not rain today and so it would be a good day for fishing." The farmer said, "As you wish sire. Good day to you as I tend further to my chores." The king motioned his men on and after dismounting from his carriage, it began to rain. Soon the rain turned into a down pour. The king realizing his day of leisure was now ruined, turned to his first knight and demanded the immediate execution of his court astronomer. After the deed had been done, the king ordered his scribe to seek the farmer with a written statement to sign, placing the farmer in the newly vacated cabinet position of court astronomer. When the scribe reached the farmer and stated the king's request to him, the farmer began to laugh. The scribe asked what was so funny, stating the importance and significance of such an appointment. The farmer said, "Then you will have to take that request to my jackass." Puzzled, the scribe said, "What do you mean by that?". Whereupon, the farmer said that whenever his jackass lays his ears back for a spell, it is going to rain within the hour. This is why every jackass wants a position within the government.

**The origins of this joke go back to President Abraham Lincoln, who had quite a sense of humor. I saw it in a video, as told by Vincent Price, who was a great admirer of Abraham Lincoln. Hope you enjoyed it for a chuckle....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
