2072 "clutch" problem
Ok, after doing some work on the 2072 I tried to adjust the (for lack of a better term) clutch so that when a person starts the tractor and pushes in the clutch the hydro lever doesn't move (stays in neutral). I couldn't find a happy medium... In order to have the clutch stay in neutral, I have to adjust the turnbuckle so far that when a person releases the clutch it doesn't come back up to the "stop bar"... Am I doing something wrong or are things warn enough that that is it? See the pics attached... Thanks!

Darrell:
That is NOT a clutch. It is a Neutral Pedal. Are you following the procedure as outlined in the Service Manual...???

Brain fart! Was trying to come up with the right term... Having driven farm tractors growing up that's what came to mind... Tried to find the procedure but was unable to locate it... Was trying to finish it up to get to bed as I was working on it late at night! I'll look through it more carefully when I get home tonight...

The procedure is the same for any of the Hydro's. Just go to the Tech section and D/L a Service Manual (ie: 782) and follow whats in the manual.

Isn't the 2072 a SGT....??? The brake pedals are on the RH side. The Neutral Pedal is on the LH side.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
