Default Super steer axle questions
Hey guys, I have an 1811 and I'm thinking of putting a "super steer" front axle from a 1641 on it. Are there any disadvantages to this? I plan to run a QA42 blower in the winter. Will the super steer axle cause any tire clearance issues with the blower?

the super steer axle will make the tractor sit a little higher in the front, no sure how much or if it would be enough to keep the blower from going down the whole way.

The super steer tractors steer easier than the regular front axle and also turn much sharper. I think it's a good modification if you can get a front axle for a right price. Especially if you can get the mule drive with the larger pulleys.

I just did this on my 782, raised the front end 2.5". I think it makes the tractor look more aggressive. I have power steering so I don't know if it turns easier, but it does turn sharper, much nicer for mowing.

Thought I read somewhere that it puts the front tires too close to the QA42 gearbox, and the taller spindle throws off how the thrower sits on the ground (tilted rearward toward the tractor).

It didn't change how my 1450 sits. It did make it turn shorter and harder. I never changed anything but the axle and made a new draglink and it DID make it harder to turn. In fact, I have been thinking about changing it back to the regular axle now that I don't use it as much as I used to.
