Default These things multiply like rabbits!

As I noted in the Hello thread 2 weeks ago, new guy here, just drug home a clean 147. Showed it to my neighbor, he starts talking with a guy at his work.. neighbor comes home asking if I want another. The guy just wants it out of his pole barn. So I leave fr work friday, left a few bottles of 'liquid refreshment' on the seat of the 147.... and here's what I see when I get home!

a 1200. Flat tire, quite panels laying next to it. I guess it ran, about 6 years ago, or so.

So, an hour into "tear down" on saturday morning, cleaned carb and fuel tank, adjusted the valves, new plug, new battery, free up the clutch and a bunch of scrubbing and we're off to the races!

The deck is in rough shape, so I've got to figure out what to do about that. AND I got to come up with an answer for the wife as to why I need two of these!

Thanks Guys, when he offered the 1200, he offered it as parts, and since I don't like to get anything for free, he's going to have to buy a bunch of Coke to mix up all that big bottle of rum!

Wow! Where can I get that kind of hooch? Try telling the wife one is for back up. Never know how long it takes to get a good price on parts. It's not like you have to feed, water, or clean up after it.:biggrin2.gif: They are like potato chips... you can't have just one.

gadgetman:

You really have several options that I think you are overlooking...

Does your wife not collect anything???

Let her drive the best running one and see for herself...

The next time she brings home another... anything that she already has one of, ask her why she needed another one.

Remind her that Cub Cadets only increase in value, and being this one was free and only needs minor repairs once you get it finished, it should fetch quite a price when she has your auction after you pass. So in reality you are only thinking of her.

Tell her it's because you don't have room for an antique automobile.

Tell her that any fella with Two Old Cub Cadets AND a Wife as Pretty as Her is the envy of the neighborhood.

The list goes on and on... You just have to use as little imagination.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
