I just finished putting one together, started with three differant machines and put all the best parts into one, 16hp Vanguard twin with optional 42" and 48" decks, I dont have the bagger system but I wouldnt use it anyway. The thing cuts like a swather and Simplicity are known for leaving a very nice finished cut. Only drawback is the small tires because the ride gets pretty rough at the speed it is capable of cutting,

That craigslist one looks to be the smaller 8hp geardrive model with a 36" deck, mine are all hydro, one 12hp and two 16hp models. I have enough parts left over to build a second one but I might just hang to the parts for now. I have only got about 10 hours on it since the rebuild but Im very impressed with it. Im only using the 42" deck so far but it still cuts my 3 acre yard in 1/2 hour less time than my JD F525 w/46" did. I need new blades for the 48" Deutz deck before I can test it out.
If your considering buying that Simplicity I would say its a good price assuming its in working condition, but be prepared to look for a more comfy seat because the small tires do make it ride rough.

Looks like it could be a decent little machine for fall cleanups and sounds like he's about ready to give it away.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
