CUB CADET 1420 Losing deck belt
My older 1420 with a 38" deck started losing its deck belt. I have researched the problem and I believe it is a deck leveling problem. Basically the PTO tensioner pulley is horizontally fixed while the deck can be positioned up and down. I believe using my mower in the number 4 position creates a steep angle which causes the belt to come off. Does anyone have a solution to this problem and can they give me the leveling procedure to keep this from occurring. Thanks.

When the MTD engineers designed your tractor & deck, they knew the deck could be operated in several height positions and also designed a PTO belt accordingly.
There are a number of factors that cause belt wear, to include: wrong type of belt, bad pulleys, bad bearings, bad spindles, and pulley mis-alignment, just to mention a few.
