Default K-161 that's sat

Well I got my O home and have tinkered with it some. I tried to turn it over with the push button and no dice she doesn't crank. So my push starter must be toast. I jumped terminals at the starter and it cranks. Also no spark so I'm guessing points etc. also the motor turns over very easy by hand. It has sat 9 years and the ol boy told me when he got it in 1977 from the original owner he couldn't get it running and that's why he got rid of it. So he then in 77 pulled the head it had a stuck valve he cleaned things up put together and it ran perfect. I'm thinking this is the case again. I went to dump some oil down the plug hole and it took barely any and I could almost touch it . So I'm thinking it's stuck. This has sat indoors the 9 years and I think he was very honest and would have told me if it had other issues. He reassured me it wouldn't take much to get it going. What's your input

If a valve was stuck open, oil would run out the muffler or the carb if you filled the cylinder.

Does the piston go up and down?

Didn't get to look to far into it but I dumped a splash of oil down the plug hole and it didn't hold much at all

That just indicates that your piston is currently very close to TDC.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
