Putting a jumper between the pedal switch should rule out if it is bad.Did you check the pto relay for melted wires?

I've been busy but I finally got some time to get this tractor fixed up.
Darkminion, there was not any melted wires on the relay. I got a new brake pedal switch and a new voltage regulator and installed them. The tractor started up and ran normally. It ran smooth up to and including full throttle. I could step on and off the brake pedal and there was no change on engine rpm or sound. The pto engaged normally and did not stall the engine. Tonight I mowed the yard here at home and did not have any trouble. I changed both the pedal switch and the voltage regulator at the same time so I'm not sure which was the culprit. I really think that it was the pedal switch though based on the condition that the old one was in. Thanks to everyone that replied here with suggestions of things to check. It really helped me out.
