Default 2284 repower

This may be silly request I have. I'm looking at replacing the Kohler CH22 engine in my 2284 with a 22hp Predator engine.
Has anyone done this before?
My question is how close do I have to match the new engine to the old Kohler engine in height and left to right positioning when bolting to mount plate? I will make the adapter to mount to the flywheel, on new engine, so the flex coupling on drive shaft will hook up to engine. Once that is done I need to get PTO mounted and in the correct location relative to the mule drive pulleys.
Anyone know where I can get 1-1/8" to 1.0" split sleeve to reduce size of PTO down to 1.0" size on new engine crankshaft.
Thanks to anyone that can help.
Larry

I don't know how everybody else does it but the PTO is what I use to determine the engine location then make the driveshaft to fit. You can get the sleeves on ebay.
You will just have to see about the height.

Thanks Terry. I guess it would be better to get the PTO in correct position being I have to make adapter to attach the drive shaft.

You might want to check out small engine warehouse. They sell a adaptor for a Honda motor for the 782. I believe the predator is a Honda clone. Maybe the adaptor will fit??

Also I believe the output amps on the predator may be too low to support electric pto clutch. Can't seem to find the engine specs on the web right now but something to check into.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
