Default Just In Case, part 2

Picked up this 222 yesterday, well it was actually delivered. Cory a member on OCC found this one for me up in his neck of the woods. And brought it down for me. Heck of a nice guy helping me spend my money.
It's got a pretty good smoking issue, but I ain't scared. Hydraulic drive and lift, pretty cool looking tractor.

Nice pick up Todd. Always loved the hydraulic drive and hydraulic attachments, rugged ISO mounts. We had a 444 growing up with a hydraulic tiller, love that design, simple always seems to prevail. Looks great and to hear a member helping like that is even better, good dude.

Cool ride, Todd! Looks like it needs lights or reflectors in the back if you plan on using it at night near the road. Heavy duty axles and the front and back rims look like a cub 123's.

Very nice score indeed! Always liked those. So, enlighten us (me) on the hydraulic drive. What does it entail? How does it differ from Cubs?

Don't know much about them yet. But the pump is behind the engine, tank is in the front under the hood,, and two lines run down to the left side of the diff to drive it.
It's a whole different feeling than our hydrostatic tractors. Going to do some research more on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
