Any issues with a CC 2284 SGT ?
I saw a 2284 w/60"haban- i believe, on CL listing for $1800, about 1300hr, which looks similar to my 2182, but pics show a ? kohler engine as main difference; looked in good shape; but as with my 2182 wiring harness issue wont show up.
What is main concerns with this model? Thinking maybe to dedicate one for FEL use. Any thoughts about price, etc? |

The usual cyclops issues. Rear end/frame bolts. Fuel systems. Plastic hoods. Many safety switches. I kill grass with one now. Habans are awesome.

Price looks a little high for a 1300 hour machine. Take a good look at the rear end for loose or broken attachment points. 2284's have a CH22 with a crappy ignition system that Kohler calls a Spark Advance Module or SAM for short. They tend to be a bit problematic. Other than that they are great tractors.

My boy in jd130-48" cut is able to run circles around my 2182 60" haban; I listen to engine and deck and find if grass thick or tall have to slow down for it sounds like engine bogging down and then deck speed; run near full throttle. Love overall how sgt handles, except damp grass- in reverse turf wheels spin.
Thank you guys for input, appreciate. |

When I bought my 2182 with 60" Haban is seemed doggy too, the mule drive pulleys were adjusted to where one rubbed on the frame to keep the belt tight, I replaced the belt last year with the correct belt which fixed the pulley issue and that gained me a solid 30% more mowing speed.

Hi CNeubauer,
what length belt did you get? I have kevlar 95" from rural king which seems to allow mule pulleys to be upright to slight posterior. PO just had 5/8" v-belt 96" which shredded up in no time and pulleys were up against frame. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
