Cub Cadet 2182

need info. have been running gates B-95 belt non-Kevlar type on mule drive for a haban type 60" mower on a 2182. last belt I bought was not a gates and was not a usa made and is too long. the gates I have used in the past gave good service for a non-Kevlar belt. want to start using Kevlar type belts but the mule drive belt is more critical about proper length and want to make sure I am getting the right length ect. what belt are you running and getting good adjustment on the mule drive for 2182 with the haban type deck?

I've been ordering Kevlar belts from V-belt supply. I had one in stock that I just put on my 982. For some reason the old belt (supposedly Kevlar) was eating away on one side. It actually allowed one of the mule drive idlers to get into the frame. I think these belts were labled A&I (they market a lot of aftermarket ag parts). FWIW, I had a Cadet belt on my 2072, it lasted less than 2 years.

the mule drive idlers on the new belt I installed would not give proper adjustment with both pulleys nearly rubbing the front frame. I just want someone else to post the length B belt they were running and getting good adjustment. the new belt i put on was made in korea and is not in the gates belt quality ect. before I spend several more dollars on a Kevlar belt I want to make sure I am running a belt someone else is getting good service with and the correct length. the closest cadet store is 40 plus miles. I may have to rethink my 2182 with the haban type deck. I may go the zero turn route or small tractor and grooming mower. the haban type decks are going to be a problem to keep repaired in the next 10 years. looks like I can buy a spindle for a grooming mower for $50-$100 from several suppliers and the spindles can be rebuilt. the old haban can have new bearing installed but the dust covers top and bottom are hard to find ect, and the pulleys will be hard to replace especially the center double pulley. I like the 2182 with the 60" deck but looks like keeping it mowing several more years is going to be a problem.

So.... your thinking about trading down because you can't just order a belt online and fix your tractor. Sounds legit.

Dust covers are not "wear items". Pulleys don't wear fast. If you aren't willing to buy the right parts and do a little work, your betting off getting rid of it anyway. It's only going to be a "problem" to keep your 2182 and Haban mowing for several more years if your not willing to maintain it. It's really simple.

Right here on this very site, there is a belt chart... it even tells you the size of belt it takes! It's all part of what we do here to help out people with their Cubs.

I completely agree with Jon, buy the proper cub belt.

There are a couple of different belts for that tractor and mower based on serial numbers.

The 2182 and haban are going to be as good as anything unless you spend at least 2x as much money.

J-Mech --- your belt link got me started on my search. found a parts sale link for Messicks that have a huge on line parts site for cub cadets. have been able to get the correct belt length for my 60" haban type deck. the spindles were my biggest concern and looks like everything is still available but the front swivel wheel on the deck. there may be cheaper places to buy new cub cadet parts. I wanted to establish that parts could be bought for this type deck. nearest cadet store that would know anything about this machine is 70 miles. buying parts on line and shipping will keep me going. looking at the parts I will need to repair spindles I will have to put up with price gouging. I ruined a center pulley on my deck and used parts from a set of spindles I bought on ebay 3-4 years ago to repair. think the damage pulley can be repaired but don't have time right now. want to try the Kevlar belts as it looks like my belt supplier has dropped the gates line and picked up a Korean supplier. again appreciate the reply.

I went to Rural king and bought a kevlar b- belt 95" for $20-25 and mule drive pulleys are upright to slight back adjusted. This is my first year with 2182 60" haban and this b- belt has worked fine;whereas any nonkevlar b-belt was chewed up within hour; PO had a nonkevlar b94 belt =96" too long; which meant pulleys allowed belt to rub front
