Cub prices are all over the place. Check CL to get an idea of what they are going for in your general area.
A couple things to look for: See if the spindles have been broken loose where they are welded to axle, pretty common. Cracked and welded cylinder head--always seen this right on top. The "bottom" of the radiator is actually the big cast housing for the front end. see if it has a freeze break under the bottom side (look for a really long weld repair) Does it smoke (oil) bad? Those engines aren't cheap to fix. If it smokes really bad it will probably have to be bored (no sleeves). Look where the drawbar bolts to the bull gear housings. On a Cub there should be rather large tapered head bolts. See if any of the holes are stripped out, got normal bolts in them or if anything looks out of place. See if the block is busted at the front on either side. A lot of them have been welded, sometimes a brace has been added, sometimes the owner keeps driving it. Also, drive it. Should be fairly quiet in all the gears. Make sure the brakes don't do anything weird--the drum is known to come off the axle and folks keep driving them. Makes a mess to say the least. This is just a few of the major issues you may find with Cubs, all of which may knock your price down--especially depending on what the buyer knows to look for. A welded head or water tank that is working (old repair) doesn't scare me. Nor does seeing an old repair on the front spindles. The bull gear housings and cracked engine blocks, well that's kind of touchy.

By the way, that's a 59" Woods mower. It better be strong to pull it. I've ran several (dad has one), don't expect it to be a bushog.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
