If the clutch is centrifugal, that explains why he can turn the yoke by hand.

I would verify that this pin is not sheared before opening a big can of worms.
I'll correct myself, he did not say that the "fan was spinning", but he did not say it wasn't. If I'm reasoning this right...... if the fan is NOT spinning then the clutch would have to be bad, if it is spinning and the yoke is not, the spirol pin through the yoke must be sheared as it is not missing. Yes, No, Maybe anyone????

Just to clarify my comment in order of operation.
1. Examine the situation to find the problem.
2. If simple fix (pin, etc) make the repair and go with it (very cheapest solution)
3. If not simple you decide how you want to fix it. Option a: remove clutch replace with fix driveshaft and needed parts. Option b: remove clutch and replace it with another clutch.

As I mentioned earlier I saw little difference in cold weather starting with and without the clutch. These 3 cylinder diesel start hard in cold weather (I have not upgraded the starter or glow plugs).

As an FYI cub cadet sells the specific plastic fan for the disconnect clutch for $91.55. Yes just the plastic fan. I had a stick go up into the frame and take off every blade in less than 2 seconds. Since I haul all my firewood with this tractor I suspected it could happen again.

Put the screen back on the bottom and sticks can't get to the fan....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
