Blade compatibility question
I have a Cub 72 and I was looking to get a blade for it. Most of the used blades I am seeing have no model number and the seller sometimes knows little or nothing about it. I read through the manual that is posted, but still not 100% sure what I am looking for.
So I have found this, the seller claims it came off his 100, so it is the correct narrow frame, but it looks like it bolts on, instead of the quick attach that my tractor has. Does anyone have any experience with this? should I get it and just bolt it on, or are there brackets I can acquire or fabricate to use the quick attach? If someone had some pictures of how the quick attach version looks that would be helpful too. |

The subframe in the picture is for a Narrow Frame tractor, hard to tell from here but it looks like it has the extensions on it or it's been "modified".
You should be able to bolt it to your 72 or bolt it to the mule drive. The link below will tell you everything you need to know about Cub Cadet blades, but you gotta do some homework to make it all come together. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=24722

I had the same sub frame. I had to cut the mounts off of the inside and then weld them to the outside of the frame to make it work on my 73 with QA. I believe I moved them back about an inch or so as well. Mine came off a 102. With the arms on the inside, they will hit directly in the middle of the bottom of the QA latch and it will hang too low. I used the solid pin to go through the top bracket holes and made it QA. Most people said there was no difference in width of the bolt on versus QA for the NFs but that was not my experience so I "made it work".

Thanks for the input! I think I will take a chance on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
