Default 451 on a 1440

I recently acquired a 451 blower for my 1440, pieced and fabbed up everything that was missing linkage wise, new belt, and it turned on perfectly, no isses......until I went to use it in snow. Snow only shot out 5-10 feet max. It has the 6" PTO, and made sure it had the 451 part number badge, and gear ratio is correct to not confuse 450 to 451. I tried different speeds, accumulated more snow in auger, still no change. The belt doesn't seem to be slipping, so I suppose I'm not too sure what else could be the cause. Should i look into checking RPM? I am running it at WOT as well. Any other suggestions?

Depends on snow. Sometimes it won't throw as far. Temp has a lot to do with it. Colder it is, better it is for blowing. Wet snow doesn't throw far.

Checking RPM is a good idea. Get us some pics. Pics help.

It was pretty fluffy Snow, went out for round 2 last night and same results. Also, what is the appropriate length for the 451 belt and 6in pto? I came across 84", but just want to verify. My tensioner pulley sits fairly low to the ground in the "tensioned" position. I'll post up a few pictures this evening after work. I'll also check out the RPM's to narrow down further.

How about the PTO on the tractor? Is that working correctly (slipping)?

Sorry for the disappearing act, but I was able to cure the poor Snow throwing. I added rubber paddles to the impeller blades due to a huge gap between the impeller and housing, an 84 inch belt, and some lube in the chute. RPM'S are close to 3600. Works great now! Oh and minus the choke cable freezing and having to manually choke and unchoke the damn thing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
