1641 cyclops hitch?
I have a Brinly sleeve hitch cultivator that I use in my garden, currently with my Jacobsen GT10. Since I acquired the 1641 I've been thinking about putting a sleeve hitch on it as well. I know there's a kit for the aluminum rear, but I'm confused, couldn't the hitch just bolt to the rear plate that connects to the frame with a little modification? Or does that just have to come off to be out of the picture for the sleeve hitch bracket to mount up? I know there are limitations to mounting to the aluminum rear, so I'm carefully considering options. I don't think cultivator would be too much stress on it. Of course my other option is to just scoop something up with a cast iron rear that has hydro lift with no deck carriage for that job maybe with a snowblower also.
My Jacobsen does the job fine but it isn't gonna last forever. Plus it's manual lift so the cultivator is pretty heavy to lift by hand lever. |

IIRC, the sleeve hitch was gone after the 17xx series. If you have the funds, do it right and put a cat 0 hitch on it. I've picked a few of them up for around $300 to $350 used. Here is one that is an aftermarket and it is top notch quality.
http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Part...Cub-Cadet.html Then you get one of these and pull all of your sleeve hitch stuff. http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Part...Cub-Cadet.html The stuff is kind of pricey but put an add in the "Wanted" section and maybe a member can help you out. I don't think I would remove the rear hitch plate on a Cyclops machine because you could have problems down the road with the rear getting loose. That rear plate keeps the frame from twisting and working the bolts loose.

Yikes. I can probably find a whole other older tractor with the hitch on for that kind of dough.

Ugh, you're killing me with temptation. I have seen that one, but I don't really want to spend that much on a device to attach my attachment. That's more than I paid for the tractor.

I've done a couple sleeve hitches that used a winch to lift the hitch. Xtreme parts CC-29-010A $72.00 and CC-29-112 $80.00 plus the cost of a small ATV winch.
http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/Part...Cub-Cadet.html If you decide to go this way I strongly suggest that you include the GT axle brace kit and tell Aaron to move the lower tabs on the hitch outward 3/8" on each side so that they clear the braces. That is how the hitch on this tractor was setup.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
