Growing up on a farm in central Indiana it was Binders from the p/u's , Loadstars to Emmeryvilles ( yes I know they were built in CA. ) we lived 60 miles from FT Wayne ( we picked a few up at the factory ) , my Grandpa loved them , but for some reason his buying the IH p/u's ended in the early 70's and he went to GM .(I think the IH dealer ticked him off as we went to a different one ) but I still remember the one had the gas fill in the front fender ..
as for the rat rods ( I call them rat turds) , to me it says I want to be cool but do not have the money or the skills or know how to do it right as instead of shop classes I took the art of texting or fast and the furious movie review .. .. around my house the state police pull them over and inspect them and seen many leave the scene on a flatbed and the driver with a handfull of violations waiting for his ride home .. lots of stupid dangerous stuff done or not done ..

Oh my word the one in the ad is just plain awful. Looks like an old chest freezer was made into a bed.
We have a local car show here, every second Saturday of each month they close downtown and have the show. I spoke at length with a guy who has a (49?) IH truck I think and the color is this flat grey almost primer looking but very sharp. He said it was an original color choice then. I believe its somewhat resto mod but done right. I'll take some pics next time, it looks flawless. I like the old patina though Coakes, they were workers and that's how they should look but be 100 percent mechanically done.

Meant to post this before finally got a round tuit. Found this at a local garage sale last spring. I forgot the details but I think this one is late 1930's or early 1940's model.

You have 2 really nice trucks there, thanks for sharing the pics!
As for the rat rod, that is a really bad job. Looks like something just cobbled together in all honesty. You don't see many IH pickups around here anymore. There was one running around town painted orange and creme Everything else on the outside appeared stock except the wheels were oversized and may have been a bit low profile. It actually looked really good. The paint job was show car quality.

on the farm we had some KB's and L's into the early 70s when I was a kid , only thing that saved them was in the winter they stayed in the lean too's and hardly moved , and we always washed them when they got muddy , the KBs I loved the looks of the fenders ..( so did Navistar that what the lonestar is patterned after)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
