There was a ton of research done into that list by OCC and ihcubcadet.com (Charlie Proctor's site). The list is sound and accurate.

Today, I went to Cummins Filtration and looked at the specifications for HF6096. NOTHING has changed and is a sound filter for Sundstrand.

I can not attest to a NAPA cross reference.

As I said before, it is your time, your research, your money and your tractor. You can do as you see fit. All I said was what was in the Sundstrand Service Manual. You can take their recommendations or not.

Now I am really confused.

It seems as if the only filter one can really trust is is the Cub Cadet filter. I wonder who makes those, and what its specifications are.

I was about to buy some Fleetguard filters. Perhaps I should save the money.

Looking at the Cummins Filtraition Fleetguard crossover the 51410 Wix (1410 NAPA) crosses to the HF6096. The 51084 Wix (1084 NAPA) crosses to a LF3311. Seems the HF6096 is still a viable option. The Fleetguard application book shows the HF6096 as the correct filter for Cub Cadet hydros. The older ones anyway.

Well crap. Misled by Napa. Back to the 1410. Good thing I haven't used mower yet. Just did a fluid/filter and new relief valve change.

Two summers ago I went to a Case IH dealer and said I needed a hydro filter when I changed out my fluid. It's good for another 40 years.

Glad I paid 1.00 for it. It will work on one of my other tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
