Morning All. Got the bushings for the tank over the weekend and am still a bit nervous about the tank not leaking after it goes back together. The bushings have no resistance when put in the whole. Even with the shutoffs installed in the bushings they will go in and out of the tank outlets without much trouble.
The wholes in the tank have a diameter of .56. The diameter of the bushing with the shutoffs installed in it is .57. Is that enough difference to hold that in place. Thinking about using a gas resistant adhesive and making sure it stays in place. Figure there is a consequence of that I am not thinking of though. Either that or I just get to antsy about things and should just put together and stop thinking about it, any thoughts? The valve stem fix someone previously used is actually close to .70. Wondering if they widened the tank hole to get that to go into the tank. Ken |

They may have.
Shut off the tank valve, put some gas in it and see if it leaks. That was easy..... don't even have to install it, and you can dump it out if it does. |

I just replaced a set of tank bushings in my 1864. I stopped at the local Cub dealer and he tried to sell me some that I think are sold by Stens. they looked small so I didn't buy them. Went home and found that I had a set of OEM MTD bushings in a drawer, you know the old deal, put them someplace safe and then you can't find them LMAO. Anyway they look like they have a larger OD than what the dealer is selling. I have a Cyclops tank so I'll measure the hole ID and get back to you. OEM part # is 751-3008 Fuel Tank Bushing

Hey Sam Thanks for the info, 751-3008 is what I bought and went ahead and put em in today. Put fuel in the tank and it does not appear to leak, still seems loose but will give it a try. See how it does bouncing around on this 4 wheel drive course I call my lawn

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
