Default 2084 engine work

Eric and I pulled the ch20 Kohler command out of my 2084 to replace the head gaskets. So far it has been a cleanup of the mess of operating in a very dirty environment and the mess in spots not normally available to cleaning. After a friend with a good back and Eric got the engine into his basement we proceeded to remove the tins and was happy to see not much dirt. Cannot say the same for under the air cleaner though. We have the intake and exhaust removed and are ready to take off the heads for a cleanup in there. Yes I know we need some pics to go along but the excitement of discovery has risen to the point we forgot to do so. Our discovery so far has found a need for some gaskets, fuel line replacement and a chafed wire, So far not bad for an engine that has over 1500 hrs on it.

Yes Sam that is about it. As we suspected the one cylinder has a head gasket leak so both are going to get changed before we will stand there and smile at a job well done. Time to get back to the mess of cleaning that dirt collecter up.

Might be a good time to change both crankshaft seals while you're in there.

You are right I did change the front seal a couple of years ago but never did the rear. I discovered I need the drive shaft boot also. What amazes me is just how much dirt that engine has hidden in the least accessable nooks and crannys If I saved all that dirt and put it in a pile it most likely would be half as big as the engine. This is on an engine that at least once a year has thetins removed and cleaned. Folks develop a periodic routine of cleaning your mowers. They are all used in a very dirty environment and being for the most part an air cooled engine suck that dirt right to the places it should not be. My advice to all is gentlemen, CLEAN YOUR ENGINES.
