Default New Used 149

Just to make me an official Cub Cadet member I bought a 1972 model 149. I bought Todd Zippel's 149 that he picked up back in 2013. It's in nicer shape than the pictures he posted back then and sent me as well. It came with a mule drive, undercarriage and 48" mower deck.

Did I overpay for it? Probably, but Todd's "lifetime warranty on parts & service" was worth it. Actually, I could have bought something on CL or sleazebay for less, but with Todd I felt that I was getting the best value for the dollar and the feeling of comfort that comes with knowing it's in great shape and doesn't have those immediate problems/issues that an unknown tractor all seem to have. I think/hope Todd is happy with the deal.

I picked up a QA42A blower, so my plan is to use the 149 to mow my shop yard in the summer and blow my home driveway and sidewalk in the winter. The shop folks think that once I start blowing snow with it on the sidewalk I should just keep going and do the whole neighborhood. Maybe three or four houses in each direction , but the whole neighborhood?? I think not.

Now that I have the 149 to go with my measly Cadet 95, I am official and certified.

Once I get the 95 up and running, I'll see about posting pictures (everyone here seems to be quite insistent about that) and update my profile.

I've read and learned a lot in my year as a member. Thanks to one and all.
Mike

Well, I don't know about the lifetime warranty, or service. But it should serve you well Mike.
Oh, and I never removed the driveshaft on this one, so no worries there.
It was good meeting you. Enjoy the ride.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
